Happiness – something so small and simple, but something that can bring so much joy. Being happy not only lifts you up, but also everyone around you, I mean, who wants to be around someone that’s miserable all the time?! If you’re feeling down because you had a cheat day, you’re tired after a busy week, or it’s just aren’t going great for you at that moment in time, sometimes it’s the littlest of things that make you smile.
Friendships are one of the biggest creators of happiness, because what’s better than knowing when you’re feeling down you always have someone to turn to. Your family will always try to make you happy and feel good, and I rely on mine so much to pick me up when I’m down! But it doesn’t have to be something this big that makes you happy…
So I’ve already talked you through my top 5 ways to relax, but relaxation and happiness are two different things. Here are my top 5 hits of happiness at the moment (I have a million more too).
Anyone that says they hate clean sheets is lying. Yes they’re a pain to wash and iron, but nothing beats crawling into crisp bedsheets after a hardcore workout and relaxing bath that day. It really is the little things.
Protein Hot Chocolate
I’m such a chocoholic, and whilst on my fitness journey I’ve managed to fight the cravings and keep off the chocolate (apart from the birthday cake of course but I think that’s allowed). I really struggled without my chocolate fix, thinking I needed bars of the stuff to fulfil my need for the stuff, but it’s surprising just how little can best it. Using my Protein World slender blend chocolate powder and adding two scoops into a mug, I heat almond milk on the hob until warm, before pouring it into the mug and stirring. The result? Protein hot chocolate! Add cinnamon for an extra warming kick.
Living in the UK, this stuff is hard to come by, and when it finally puts its hat on, everyone goes crazy for a bit of Vitamin C. I appreciate my supper holidays abroad so much, knowing that that’s just about the only sunshine I’ll be getting for the next year. When it actually does get above 10 degrees in England, I’m out in that garden like a shot to soak up the sunshine (with protection) and wait for the freckles to explode.
I’m a sucker for flowers, and if, someone buys me them, they’ll probably be my BFF. Peonies are my absolute favourite flower, but supermarkets rarely sell them, so whenever I spot a bunch of pale pink peonies I just have to have them! Not only do they improve my room, but they improve my mood in an instant. 🌸
High Intensity Interval Training is my best friend. If you don’t have time for an hour long workout, a 20 minute HIIT routine or sprints on the treadmill can work wonders, so,entices proving to be more effective than an hour and a half slog. I get involved with loads of classes at my gym to meet new people and be a part of a fitness community, and HIIT has to be my favourite. I do 4 HIIT classes per week, consisting of 32 different exercises that work the different parts of the body: legs, core, upper body and cardio for overall fitness. Whilst they’re tough at the time, I walk out feeling happier than ever!
Do what makes you happy, and do more of it!
