When you’re greeted with a delivery in the form of a big yellow box, you know it’s going to be a good day.
With so many brands of protein shakes on the market at the moment, it’s difficult to know which one to buy. Protein aids the body by providing the needed growth and development of muscle fibre and tissue, helping to repair the muscles and keep the body strong. The protein shake marked has recently boomed amongst men and women as a post or pre workout routine, and shakes are becoming the must have supplement in the fitness industry.
As I’m not a huge meat eater and I try to only have a few eggs a week, I needed another source of protein to build up my strength from all of my gym workouts. I follow lots of fitness accounts on Instagram, as well as celebrities to see the types of products that they use and that their personal trainers recommend for them. It was through this that I stumbled across Protein World on various different accounts, and so I decided to look into their products. Their Slender Blend shakes from the Weight Loss Collection not only come in five delicious flavours: Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate, Banana and Naked, but they are also suitable for Vegetarians and are gluten and soya free which is perfect for my gluten free diet.
I had recently just had my first months pay from work, so decided to splash out and purchase the entire Weight Loss Collection in the vanilla flavour. The collection came with a 1.2kg tub of the Vanilla Slender Blend, a free shaker, multi vitamins and fat melters, along with a hand written message from the team. The vanilla shakes were delicious, but as I’m a chocolate girl at heart, when I finished the tub I couldn’t help but go for the chocolate flavour which I’ve been ordering ever since. I love how filling the shakes are, and whilst i don’t follow the recommended use of two shakes a day as meal replacements, I’m using them more to tone up as opposed to losing weight, and can really see the difference. I used to mix the shakes with water, but as I’m now obsessed with almond milk, I mix 4 scoops of protein powder with 450ml almond milk. Top tip: put the liquid into the shaker first and then add the protein before shaking. If you add the powder first, it gets stuck in the bottom of the shaker and then you can’t get to it!
Protein World faced a lot of controversy just a few months ago regarding one of their marketing campaigns featuring Australian model Renee Somerfield and the ‘Are You Beach Body Ready?’ posters. With experience in digital marketing, I found this topic really interesting, especially as I use their products, and so researched into various articles that were arguing against the campaign. Whilst the wording of ‘are you beach body ready?’ wasn’t perhaps the smartest of ideas in some respects, as theoretically everyone can be beach body ready, the products are simply made to help those on a fitness journey to boost their confidence and to help them lose weight and tone up. Overall, the media attention that Protein World received from it lead to a huge increase in new clientele and benefitted the company on a global scale.
It’s now been almost a year since I had my first Protein World delivery, time flies! In the words of Taylor Swift: Shake It Off.
