My Post Workout Cleansing Routine

No7 Face Wipes

No7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Face Wipes

After a workout, the obvious is to grab a hot shower or a warm relaxing bath once we’ve cooled down to give ourselves a good scrub and feel refreshed post exercise. What many people tend to neglect is cleansing their face properly, which is super important after a workout because well, we sweat don’t we? If you don’t have this problem then you’re either very lucky and I need to know your secret, or your workout hasn’t been hardcore enough!

I never go to the gym with face make-up on and will rarely go with anything at all, but if I do it will only be a hint of eyebrow pencil and a flick of mascara. Working out with heavy foundation caked on will prevent your skin from breathing properly, and will mean that when you sweat all of your make up will get into your pores and clog them up, making you more prone to spots. Having suffered from bad skin, this is not something that I would recommend, so try your hardest not to wear any – no one cares what you look like in the gym!

L'OREAL Micellar Water

Remove

As soon as I get home from the gym, I’ll remove any eye make up with my Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes. Whilst these are expensive, they are super soft on the face and are great for sensitive skin, but using wipes all the time isn’t great for your skin, no matter how good they are. I’ve also recently started using micellar water, a clear cleansing milk that dissolves make up and cleanses the skin and so will gently run the L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Micellar Water over my face using two lightly soaked cotton pads to remove any excess, or will alternate between using wipes and micellar water so that my face doesn’t get too used to one product.

Cleanse

Olay Regenerist Cleanser

Olay Regenerist Skin Perfecting Cleanser

One of my best purchases is my Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Cleansing System; a 2 speed electronic cleanser that rotates to remove any deep-rooted dirt within the pores of the skin. The cleanser comes with a special exfoliating gel and spare brush head, but you can buy replacement brush heads separately! I tend to only use this a few times a week, as using it everyday can be a bit harsh on the skin. To use, I wet my face with a splash of warm water and squeeze a small amount of the gel onto the brush head. Holding it against my face and using the faster speed setting, I work the cleanser around my face for 1 minute, so that the gel has formed a light foam on my face. Using cold water to close my pores, I grab a flannel and remove the gel from my face, patting it dry with a soft fluffy towel.

Silver Serum

Finish

My final must have of my skincare routine is my Skin Shop Silver Serum. I’d read so many positive things about this little beauty that I just had to buy it, and after almost a year I can’t imagine life before it! The Silver Serum is a smart anti-bacterial skin treatment, containing a silver ingredient that kills bad bacteria whilst aiding the good skin bacteria to reduce skin conditions such as acne, acne rosacea, eczema and psoriasis. Squeezing a pea-sized amount onto my fingers, I rub this over my entire face, focusing more on my problem areas, and let it dry. I then pop a tiny bit of E45 cream on any dry patches, which for me is the corners of my nose, and I’m done! Super clean, super soft skin in no more than six minutes.
